I made an appointment with the doctor, checked my retina and that is fine, so I have another appointment on Monday. However I really want to have some clue about what's wrong. I can see very well, my vision is great, it's just a flash of light. Occurs on and night.

Intermittent sounds like floaters to me. Flashing can be caused by several things, including a retina extract or fluid behind of the retina. Any of these may be less with nothing to worry about or could be signs of something very serious. Make an appointment - and get a second opinion just to two doctors are saying the same thing. Mine turned out to be an extremely serious tumor (choroidal melanoma), but caught in time to save my life, but I'm vision in that eye.
