How I can hardwire an IR extender?

I have a Dish Network satellite receiver through the lobby of my TV (not in rooms separated). I want to get a long cable, to a LED light at one end, and a sensor on the other. I have the LED, I have the sensor, actually I have two of each so that I can make a mistake. The sensor has 3 points, and has led to two points, then how do I wire together? I know one end of the sensors is the signal, but when I connect to? I do not understand.
