Dr. Tom Toomas Honored at 2007 Vision Awards
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Dr. Tom Toomas TLC Laser Eye Centers was honored to receive the prestigious Year Award for his work and dedication to help restore and preserve the sight of tens of thousands of people during his 25-year ophthalmic career.
The Vision Awards [TM] is an annual event dedicated to honoring "People of Vision." From 1972, the organization has managed to raise awareness of blindness and other problems vision through an awards ceremony that recognizes leading visionaries in both the medical and entertainment. Thanks to the fundraising efforts Vision Awards community, the organization has made great strides in improving the quality of life of visually impaired and promoting ocular research. The objective admirable of the Vision Awards is a day to end blindness.
Dr. Tom Toomas was truly humbled to be chosen as honoree of the 34th Annual Awards Vision years. Other award winners during the night's festivities included such notable visionaries in the entertainment industry as Wes Craven, Brett Ratner, Tony Shalhoub, Katie Couric, Andy Garcia, Forest Whitaker and Ted Turner.
Dr. Tom Toomas was one of the few to be honored for scientific and medical efforts in the area of vision correction and research. "To share the stage with notable scientists, doctors, actors and directors is an incredible honor," said Dr. Thomas Toomer. "Everything was so big for a reason and I know the Vision Awards truly succeeded in raising awareness for vision impairment."
In fact, the evening's festivities raised not only awareness, but donations as well. The awards ceremony was accompanied by an auction that raised $ 25,000 to go towards Mobility Grant-ups that will help finance the education of a future vision. For the 625 attendees Vision Awards this year was really a fun night worthwhile.
